The end of the last courses held during the month of November has arrived. We started with a first training in Balingore (Senegal), moving later to Njau (Gambia). In this way, we have taken advantage of the proximity of both countries and have optimized resources.
In addition to the participants from different regions of Senegal and Gambia, we have also had attendees from Mali, where it is more difficult for us to travel due to the situation in the country.
During both courses we have achieved:
💧 Construction of a manual pump for each student.
💧 Manual drilling of 4 wells. 2 with a manual pump and another 2 with a small diameter solar pump and reduced extraction to protect the aquifers.
💧 Construction of 3 manual drilling rigs, one for Senegal, one for Gambia and one for the boys from Mali who take it back to their country. All teams have 32 meters of bars for soft ground and also 12 meters of heavy bars for when they find layers of semi-hard rock, in addition to their corresponding drill bits for this purpose.
As usual, theoretical classes have also been held to consolidate the knowledge learned in practice.
For us, it has been a particularly demanding and hard mission, since we have been in two countries and this has required a lot of organization and we have also prepared a lot of equipment in a short time, which has required a lot of welding and workshop work. Luckily we have had the technical assistance of Alioup, as an assistant teacher. Alioup is a Senegalese technician who trained with us in a course years ago. Since then he has acquired a lot of experience with his work and also wants to teach and collaborate. It is a great opportunity for the Mobile Water School to have him.
We attach a video that summarizes this month of work.
Once again, thank you very much for your support.
